Board Member Duties

PRESIDENT – Supervises board members & chapter functions
  • Shares wine information from other chapters
  • Signs contracts for tasting events
  • Conducts board meetings & provides an agenda
  • Follows up on assignments given to board members
  • Gives an introduction of hosts at wine tasting events, with closing remarks at the end of the events
  • Keeps a copy of the credit card and pays bills associated with tasting events in the absence of the Treasurer
VICE PRESIDENT – Performs the duties of President due to absence or inability of the President to serve
  • Conducts board meetings, wine tasting events & makes decisions in the absence of the President
  • Advise and assist other board members as needed
  • Represents the chapter at NMVWS board meetings when the President is not available
  • Carries out other assignments as delegated by the board
SECRETARY – Records minutes of board meetings & records history of chapter events
  • Records minutes of board meetings & distributes to board members prior to next board meeting
  • Sends a reminder of board meetings 1 week prior
  • Sends thank-you notes to hosts of tasting events
TREASURER – Manages the finances of the chapter and maintains membership roster and contact information
  • Maintains records of monthly income and expenditures
  • Issues refunds to members for supplies, etc., with receipts provided
  • Reconciles bank records
  • Provides a bimonthly report to the board
  • Makes yearly dues payments to NMVWS
  • Pays monies owed to hosts of tasting events, etc.
  • Assists with contracts negotiated by the President
  • Maintains updated membership roster
  • Provides membership report at board meetings
EVENTS COORDINATOR – Plans and organizes membership meetings
  • Solicits speakers
  • Coordinates with hosts of events and finalizes cost and details
  • Sets up tasting events for the calendar year
  • Solicits feedback from members for tasting events yearly
  • Check in members at tasting events and issue name tags
  • Emails guests and hosts of tasting events a link to the website to register as a member
  • Sends wine tasting event email invites to members as well as a reminder 1 week before the RSVP deadline, and keeps track of replies
